Well, hello there!  My name is Samantha.  I live in Texas with my three crazy boys and my one crazy husband.  I have always been fascinated by old pictures, old houses, antiques, and history.  As a  friend once asked me, "you like old stuff, right?"  Why, yes. Yes, I do.  So I decided to channel my passion into this little blog!


I was a history major in college and I loved it!  I ended up teaching 4th grade math though, ha!  I always hated math in school, but loved teaching math.  Turns out when you are not good at math, it's easier to teach kids that also struggle with math.  Who knew?  Now, I run an air conditioning company with my husband (insert shoulder shrug with a smile emoji here).  Sometimes plans change.

My Genealogy Beginning


A few months after my Dad passed away, I was talking with a friend about ancestry.com.  She told me how she was able to connect with her birth family through the website.  They have a free trial deal and I decided to get on and test it.  OMG, was I overwhelmed with what I found.  I was addicted.  I went down an ancestry rabbit hole trying to go as far back as I could to find out where I came from.

Eventually, I let my free trial lapse.  I thought for a while about what my goal would be with researching my family tree.  When I restarted my ancestry account, I started taking my time and more carefully saved hints and documents.  As I went deeper into my research, I became more goal oriented and then eventually decided to start this blog to records my findings.

My goal for this blog is to record my genealogy research, and maybe include some tips about things I learn along the way.  I want to keep the flame of my ancestors alive and tell their story through my research and my family heirlooms.
